my sweet little grammie, isabel

I'm a very lucky girl. I have one of the world's most special little ladies as a Grammie and I love her so much! She lives in New Brunswick, Canada and I love to spend as much time with her as possible. I am just so blessed to have been able to see her as much as I have.

She's a swimmin', scrabble playin', online surfin', jumble solvin', geneology lovin', church goin', neighborhood watchin' fool. And, on top of that, she's 96 years old! She is as with it as it gets. She never forgets a birthday and she is always up on the gossip. She loves to shop at Chico's and still travels to Florida for the winters.

About 4 weeks ago, she had a little stroke. Danny and I drove up as soon as we heard the news and I have been here ever since. The doctors said that is was likely a very slight stroke and that they expected a full recovery. Boy, were they right! Just the day after the stroke, she was showing off her strength to them by lifting her legs to her nose!

Isn't she precious? This is her modeling the bag my mom made her. Grammie's favorite color is purple and she really loves this bag. She would probably kill me for posting this picture because she hadn't had her hair done in a few weeks and didn't have her eyebrows on yet. But, really, don't you just want to hug her so tight?

Well, she is doing great now. Last night she beat me at a game of Scrabble by over 100 points! Trust me, she had her eagle eyes on all of those triple letter and triple word scores. Ha!

Danny is driving up tomorrow to come and get me. It's only about a 10 hour drive from where we are in Connecticut so that's not too bad- thankfully much better than the travel time from Texas! I will be so sad to say goodbye to her on Sunday but Danny and I will be back up sometime later in the summer.

Give your grandparents an extra hug and kiss next time you see them- it really is such a blessing to have them around!

my very first post

Well, I have done it. I gave in. After all of the "nevers", the "no ways" and the "I don't know hows", I did it. I started me very own blog.

The truth is, it really is a great way to capture your life. And, if anything, it will encourage me to take more pictures and keep in better touch with my family and friends.

So, that's that. I hope you enjoy!
